Life-Giving Love Un amour qui donne vie

A National Campaign for Palliative and Home Care: Against Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide

The “Life-Giving Love” Campaign is a national campaign in favour of palliative and home care, and against euthanasia and assisted suicide.  It is an initiative of the Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF), supported by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Dioceses, parishes, families, movements and associations are invited to download and print all the free tools provided by the Life-Giving Love Campaign.  These can be used to organize discussion groups to reflect on the gravity of the situation and to invite others to become more involved in caring for the vulnerable and engaging in this life or death public debate.

The campaign’s goals:

To inform Christians about the major issues surrounding this question; to introduce them to the age-old wisdom of the Church on the subject; to support their involvement with the sick and the dying, and to prepare them to take political action with a view to creating a legislative environment more hospitable to life.

The campaign’s method:  In keeping with the important document “Elements of a National Pastoral Initiative for Life and the Family” – adopted by the CCCB in 2011 – the campaign provides training tools for the advancement “of the common good and of civic responsibility”.

These tools are available free on this website:

  • Video:  National and international experts discuss the secular arguments against euthanasia and assisted suicide.
  • “Life Giving Love” (brochure):   An introduction to where we are relative to the issues of euthanasia and assisted suicide and what we can do about it.
  • Prayer for the Protection of Human Life: COLF’s prayer for the protection of all human life.
  • Prayers of the Faithful Intentions:  Intentions suggested for inclusion in the prayers of the faithful for Sunday liturgies.
  • The Church Speaks Out:   Excerpts from Church documents on euthanasia, suicide, and the Christian meaning of suffering.
  • What Can I Do? :  Practical suggestions on what we can do to counter euthanasia and assisted suicide.
  • "Families, Christ Calls Us to Sow Hope and Joy!” : COLF’s look at the role of the family as the school of love and respect for human life.
